Scaling black holes and modularity

چکیده
A bstract Scaling black holes are solutions of supergravity with multiple hole singularities, which can be adiabatically connected to a single center solution. We develop techniques determine partition functions for such scaling holes, if each constituent carries non-vanishing magnetic charge corresponding D4-brane in string theory, or equivalently M5-brane M-theory. For three constituents, we demonstrate that the function is mock modular form depth two, and appropriate non-holomorphic completion using generalized error functions. From four-dimensional perspective, parameter axion-dilaton, our results show S -duality leaves this subset spectrum invariant. five-dimensional complex structure torus T 2 , dual states dimensional reduction worldvolume theory . Evaporating black holes and long range scaling
For an effective treatment of the evaporation process of a large black hole the problem concerning the role played by the fluctuations of the (vacuum) stress tensor close to the horizon is addressed. We present arguments which establish a principal relationship between the outwards fluctuations of the stress tensor close to the horizon and quantities describing the onset of the evaporation proc...
متن کاملSize of Black Holes through Polymer Scaling
We imagine the strings on the strectched horizon of any d space-time dimensional black hole to be bits of polymer. Then, proposing an interaction between these bits we obtain the size of the configuration, and thus of the black hole, using the scaling laws. The transition from a typical black hole state to a typical string state has a simple explanation, which also holds for the extremal black ...
متن کاملDirty Black Holes and Hairy Black Holes.
An approach based on considerations of the non-classical energy momentum tensor outside the event horizon of a black hole provides additional physical insight into the nature of discrete quantum hair on black holes and its effect on black hole temperature. Our analysis both extends previous work based on the Euclidean action techniques, and corrects an omission in that work. We also raise sever...
متن کاملScaling variability from stellar to supermassive black holes
We investigate the correspondence between the variability seen in the stellar and supermassive black holes. Galactic Black Hole (GBH) power density spectra (PDS) are generally complex, and dependent on spectral state. In the low/hard state the high-frequency rollover in the PDS moves in a way which is not simply related to luminosity. Hence this feature can only be used as an approximate indica...
متن کاملScaling black holes . I . Narrow - line Seyfert 1 variability
There is growing evidence that the distinctive behaviour of the Narrow-line Seyfert 1 (NLS1) galaxies is caused by them being high-mass accretion rate objects, with luminosities close to Eddington. This would make them the high-mass analogues of the soft states seen from Galactic Black holes (GBH). A potential problem with this interpretation is that the Xray emission from NLS1’s is typically h...
